We are delighted that you are interested in joining Epsom Hockey Club.

Our doors are always open to new players of all ages and abilities.

Epsom Hockey Club is a friendly, vibrant social and family orientated sports club
with over 350 members.

We run 5 womens teams 6 mens teams and 1 mixed team as well as having a thriving junior section.

Whether you have never played hockey before, returning to hockey after a break,
a junior or senior international looking for a supportive club environment in which to perfect your skills and ambitions, we are able to meet your needs.

The club has plenty of social events including quiz night, race night, themed parties and annual ladies/mens/vets dinner.

We have a mixed 7s tournament in December and a Presidents Day in March, and a May Ball.

The clubhouse has Sky Sports and a selection of guest beers.

Key to it all is that the club is very family orientated. Many players bring their young ones to the club and all are welcome.

From colts to veterans 7 to 70+ years there is a playing standard to suit all ages
and abilities.

You may have never played hockey before but as the sport’s exposure in the media increases you may have thought it looks like a fun competitive sport to try. You may have tried hockey at school but not pursued playing in a club before. Or you may have terrible memories of hockey from school on a cold muddy pitch that bear little resemblence to the fun fast sport hockey is today.

We think hockey is great because:

• It is a fast technical game. You can learn the basics quickly, but still be mastering your skills after decades of playing
• It is fun and sociable team sport
• Rolling substitutions help make it a tactical game and one where you can rest during the game, and re-enter the fray revived
• It is played at all ages. You can start at 6 and still be playing, even at international level at 60
• It is played equally by men and women. In addition to mens and ladies sides there are many social and competitive mixed sides. Hockey is a sport that has a mixed international team
• It can be played outdoors or indoors

To join Epsom Hockey Club you need to complete a membership form and pay an annual membership fee. We accept playing and non-playing (social) members. Membership entitles you to use all the facilities at the club, attend training and playing in matches. Use of the club and training is included in your membership subscription. Each game you play in will incur an additional match fee to cover pitch, travel and hospitality costs.

We hold trials each year for all existing, new and prospective members who want to play competitive and social hockey at regional level or below. These sessions are intended to enable you to meet and greet people after the summer, enjoy a few friendly games of hockey and also show off your talents to enable the captains to select their initial squads for September.

If you want to play in one of our performance squads then the selection process is slightly different. These squads are our elite competitive teams who play higher levels of regional hockey and in the English Hockey League. You will need to get involved in pre-season fitness and training sessions and play pre-season games with these squads. For our Under 18 players there are two rates. The Sunday rate applies to U18 who only want to play colts hockey (training and matches) on a Sunday for our Next Generation Teams. This rate will also allow you to attend Academy sessions on a Tuesday evening. If however you also want to train with the senior sides and in senior or badger (mixed senior and junior development sides) on a Saturday you need to pay a further £35 to cover the additional hockey you get.

You have up to 2 months after joining to pay your membership fee so you have time to decide if Epsom is the right club for you.

Non Playing membership is for those who will not be training or playing but would like to enjoy the social side of the club and be permitted access to the members bar in the clubhouse.

Your club captain will get in touch and welcome you to Epsom Hockey Club. If you have attended trials then you will be included in selection and contacted by your team captain when you have been placed in an initial team pool. If you have e-mailed your form in or come along for training then we will welcome you at a general training session and place you in a team at the next selection meeting.
