What a brilliant social event at the club on Saturday! The results earlier in the day may have been a touch disappointing but the evening was not. A fine win for England over Wales in the rugby, with Jonesy almost in tears at the end, was followed by the 1st XI Men's annual Alternative Race Night.
The evening started with a good bit of nosh and then the first race was a penalty shoot out. A few Stuart Pearce and Chris Waddle moments later it was Rob Tong who emerged the winning sharp shooter. A very happy chairman presented his winning jockey with a bottle of wine!
We had Super Mario Kart racing, dodge-ball, wrong arm javelin throwing and many more alternative races. The boat race was well contested by the jockeys with the exception of Alex Harris who is still at the club finishing off his lager!!
To finish the evening we also officially launched the new website and many thanks to Peter Woolf and Clive Hunt for all their work getting it completed.
The evening raised a very impressive £615 for the club and an equally impressive total of £870 was taken behind the bar!
A big thank you to all who organised the event and the helpers behind the bar and the kitchen. Thanks to all those who supported the event by attending or buying a horse.
If you missed it.......well don't next time! Come and support the next club social.
